Hauraki Opportunity

Tell us what matters most

Tukua tō reo kia rere

This survey was co-developed with you, Pare Hauraki, so that you can tell us what matter most to you.

If you'd like to get in touch about the survey, you can email haurakiopportunity@waikatowellbeingproject.co.nz

The Hauraki Opportunity is brought to you by the Waikato Wellbeing Project, in partnership with Te Tara o Te Whai and the people of Hauraki. Supporting partners include Hauraki District Council, Matamata Piako District Council, and Thames Coromandel District Council. This is by us, for us.

Project Stages:

The project will be delivered in 4 stages, as outlined below.

Co-design

Co-design with community started in May of 2024, including broad engagement online and multiple face-to-face hui across the region. Members of the community, community representatives and flax-roots organisations were invited to tell us what mattered most for them to live a life they want, and what gets in the way of that. This engagement also included outreach to each iwi within project boundaries for involvement. All of this engagement and co-design informed what we would ask Pare Hauraki in our Hauraki Opportunity Survey.

Governance Group

A Governance Group specific to the Hauraki Opportunity has been established to ensure data is secured and protected as sovereign taonga, for the duration of the project, but also into the future. The group comprises Te Tara o Te Whai Alliance Members as representatives of Pare Hauraki, and meetings are open to all.
