Economic Development continues to evolve and change. As a profession it is good for us to step back and assess changing landscapes and what it means for us as economic development practitioners.
Thursday morning will provide the opportunity to hear and reflect on some important aspects of new economic thinking – but also some critical assessment of some of these concepts – including the need for a more intergenerational Te Ao Māori viewpoint.
The afternoon’s focus is on sector perspectives – recognising again that our understanding of these sectors and the opportunities they offer for and across our regions also continues to change and evolve.
Friday reflects on what we learnt from Thursday and what this means for how we, as a nation, plan for and put in place the supporting policy approaches and infrastructure, as well as how technology and other future possibilities can enable – or disrupt - us.
