Kōrero Waikato: Event Manager/Coordinator

Are you an awesome event and project manager with a passion for wellbeing in the Waikato, and the skills and energy to lead a programme of regional leadership conversations?

The Waikato Wellbeing Project (WWP) is a regional initiative to achieve a more environmentally sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive Waikato region. As part of our portfolio of activities, in 2024 we are launching Kōrero Waikato.

Kōrero: Waikato is about widening and amplifying the wellbeing leadership conversations we need as a region- to address and progress the challenges, big and small we face, to widen the invitation to more people to be part of the discussion, to respectfully and openly agree…and disagree, and to share new perspectives.

Kōrero: Waikato aims to engage a diverse audience who want to network, learn, be inspired and make change, where people from across sectors can come together with the common goal of bettering the Waikato. It will not just be an isolated event but a variety of communication channels that build curiosity, awareness and discussion that will climax at regular speaker and panel events throughout the year.

Kōrero Waikato will be held quarterly, with at least one event per year being held outside the Hamilton metro area. The programme will be initially funded by the Waikato Wellbeing Project, with the Event Manager/Coordinator playing lead role in generating sponsorship and funding deals so that programme becomes financially self-sufficient.

The Event Manager/Coordinator will be a contractor position, working on average 20 hours per week. The contract will be for one year with the option to continue depending on performance and funding in the first year. We are open to a role share arrangement with another organisation or a sole trader. A position description is attached.

Interested candidates should submit an expression of interest (EoI). Your EoI should include a resume, cover letter, and a portfolio of previous event coordination relevant to Kōrero Waikato. Harvey.brookes@waikatoregion.govt.nz
