Trustee Tinder

Hamilton technology entrepreneur and community leader Alan Chew has noticed that across the region, many community organisations are doing incredible mahi, but the one challenge he hears about most is the shortage of qualified, committed trustees.

To help bridge that gap, Alan has teamed up with Community Waikato and Volunteering Waikato to launch Trustee Tinder. This is a fun and purposeful trustee speed-dating event to connect skilled professionals with the community organisations.

Date: Wednesday, 6 Aug 2025  5.30-7.00pm

Venue: HMS Trust, 46 Boundary Road, Hamilton

This is an opportunity to meet a wide range of charities and community groups, each with its unique focus, goals, and trustee needs. You’ll be able to ask questions and learn about the organisations, all in a friendly and relaxed setting.

Many trusts are particularly looking for people with experience in areas such as:

  • ·Governance (not mandatory)

  • Finance and accounting

  • HR and people management

  • ·Strategy, leadership, marketing, legal, or digital.

However the key quality they’re seeking is a passion for community. Therefore, come along even if the above skillsets are not precisely what you can offer.

So, if you’ve ever considered giving back to or utilising your professional skills to benefit the community, this is a great place to start. If you know of people within your company or other circles who may be interested in becoming a trustee, please help by forwarding this invitation to them.

Click here to register by 30 July.

If your NFP organisation wishes to be at the event to recruit, please click here ASAP, as places are limited. Any questions? Contact alan@houston.co.nz.

For clarity- this is not a WEL Energy Trust Event but is generously funded by them. “Trustee Tinder” is a light-hearted name used informally for this community event and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Tinder or Match Group, LLC. This event is a local charitable initiative designed to connect prospective trustees with not-for-profit organisations in the Waikato region. No dating involved – just governance matchmaking.
